Skipticism No 2, 2017
SKIP IN CAST - Public Sculpture; Diokno Pasilan, Pete Gregg & Scott Fredericks
The work “Skip in Cast” is a cast of a skip bin made out of found objects that were retrieved from skip bins. Materials sourced include plastics, wood, metal, wire and children’s toys. It is an exploration of the functions of everyday objects and reinventing them into something that is transformed into art. We bring together the many different elements found in the skips and turn them into a single unit. The work juxtaposes the humble position of a rubbish container and people’s idea of waste and the unseen potential contained within to create evocative structures.
This sculpture was also part of BOAA - The Biennale of Australian Art 2018.
